Menopause: The hormonal changes during menopause affect many bodily processes.

Chronic stress: Prolonged stress can increase the production of stress hormones such as cortisol and thereby disrupt the balance of other hormones.

Thyroid disorders: Both an overactive and an underactive thyroid affect the entire hormone metabolism.

Metabolic disorders: For example, in insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes.

What is myo-inositol and where does it occur?

Myo-inositol is naturally produced in the body. However, in certain situations, the body's own production may not be sufficient to meet its needs.
This substance is also found in foods such as citrus fruits, legumes and whole grain products and can be obtained through diet or supplements if needed.

Myo-inositol and the cell response to insulin signals:

Myo-inositol plays a role in the signaling of insulin into body cells. Insulin not only regulates blood sugar levels but is also closely linked to the balance of other hormones.
For example, insulin sensitivity affects hormone production in the ovaries – an important factor for female fertility.

Several scientific studies investigate the possible link between increased myo-inositol intake and improved insulin response (Gerli et al., 2007, PMID: 17297357).
